Mastering Reinsurance: Technical Foundation, Treaty Design and Strategic Risk Management
Insurance Institute of Nepal (IIN) successfully organized a two-day technical workshop on Reinsurance management, which concluded on December 6th,2025. The program was designed to enhance the technical capacity of insurance professionals across the industry.
Workshop commenced on 5th December with an opening speech by Dr. Laxmi Kant Paudel, CEO of the Insurance Institute of Nepal (IIN). He emphasized IIN’s commitment to delivering high-quality technical training and workshops by incorporating international expertise to meet local market needs.

This program was led by the expert resource person, Mr. Rajesh Yagnik, who shared his extensive knowledge and international experience in the field of reinsurance. A total of 23 Participants from various sectors within the industry, including professionals from Re Insurance, General Insurance, and RI Brokers took part in the workshop.
Throughout these two days, participants were provided with a comprehensive overview of reinsurance, covering key topics such as:
• Fundamentals of Reinsurance: Core principles, concepts, and types of reinsurance arrangements.
• Risk Management: Approaches to managing risk through effective reinsurance structures.
• Market Trends: Case discussions and insights into new developments and emerging practices in reinsurance management.
• Alternate Risk Transfer: Exploration of innovative mechanisms beyond traditional reinsurance models.
The workshop concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony, graced by Mr. Susil Dev Subedi, Chairman of IIN and Executive Director of the Nepal Insurance Authority (NIA). In his closing remark Mr. Subedi emphasized the growing scope of IIN’s professional development initiatives and highlighted the importance of participant feedback in ensuring continuous improvement aligned with market needs.
