Sustainable Life Insurance Operation with AML/CFT Safeguards
The Insurance Institute of Nepal Ltd. (IIN) successfully conducted a two-day training program titled “Sustainable Life Insurance Operation with AML/CFT Safeguards” on 2082/11/08–09 at Hotel Sitasharan, Janakpur, Madhesh Province. The program was coordinated by Mr. Ganesh Sharma and attended by 17 life insurance professionals.
The training was designed to strengthen participants’ technical understanding of life insurance operations while also reinforcing awareness of AML/CFT compliance requirements. The sessions aimed to connect operational efficiency with regulatory responsibility, ensuring sustainable and compliant business practices.

On the first day, Ms. Sneha Agrawal led sessions on AML/CFT guidelines. She discussed the fundamentals of Anti-Money Laundering and Combating the Financing of Terrorism, risk assessment approaches, preventive measures, Nepal’s regulatory provisions, and relevant international standards including FATF recommendations. The discussions were practical and closely linked to real responsibilities within insurance companies.
The second day was facilitated by Mr. Om Prakash Pudasaini, who focused on life insurance technical aspects such as risk analysis, underwriting, pricing strategies, claims assessment, documentation practices, fraud detection, and data management. The sessions included practical insights and real examples that participants could relate to in their daily work.
The program concluded with positive feedback from participants, who appreciated the practical orientation of the sessions and the opportunity to strengthen both technical and compliance knowledge.
