The Insurance Institute of Nepal successfully conducted a two-day professional training program titled “Sustainable Life Insurance Operations with AML/CFT Safeguards” on 2082/09/04 and 2082/09/05 at Siddhartha Hotel, Bharatpur, Chitwan. The program was attended by 32 participants representing the life insurance sector.
The training was designed to enhance technical competence in life insurance operations while reinforcing compliance with Anti-Money Laundering and Combating the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) regulatory requirements.
The sessions were facilitated by Mr. Hreedayaswor Pandit, Deputy Director and Head of the Regulation Section at the Nepal Insurance Authority, and Mr. Digvijay Singhal IIN-UNDP Certified International Trainer, Chief Operating Officer and Deputy General Manager of Liberty Micro Life Insurance Limited. Both resource persons shared extensive regulatory and operational expertise, combining policy-level guidance with practical industry perspectives.

The program focused on strengthening participants’ understanding of underwriting, pricing, documentation, policy servicing, and claims management. It also emphasized risk identification, fraud prevention, and the application of a Risk-Based Approach (RBA) in line with Nepal Insurance Authority directives, FIU Nepal reporting guidelines, and FATF recommendations.
The agenda covered life insurance risk analysis, underwriting strategies, pricing factors, claim assessment, data management, and fraud mitigation. Dedicated sessions were also conducted on AML/CFT concepts, risk assessment methodologies, governance structures, targeted sanctions, typologies, and emerging risks in the insurance sector.
The training contributed to strengthening organizational governance, internal controls, and regulatory compliance within participating institutions. The program concluded successfully with certificate distribution to the participants, supporting the development of sustainable and compliant life insurance operations in Nepal.
