Training on Technical and Interpersonal Skills for Life & Non-Life Insurers in Gandaki Province

The Insurance Institute of Nepal Ltd. (IIN) successfully conducted a two-day non-residential training program from 2082/03/06 to 2082/03/07 at Kuti Resort & Spa, Pokhara.

The training was delivered under two focused themes:

“Elevating Life Insurers’ Skills: Integrating Technical and Interpersonal Expertise”

“Elevating Non-Life Insurers’ Skills: Integrating Agricultural (Cattle) and Interpersonal Expertise”

A total of 39 participants attended the program, including professionals from life and non-life insurance companies as well as representatives from the Nepal Insurance Authority (NIA).

The training program was coordinated by Mr. Ganesh Sharma, and aimed at enhancing both the technical competencies and interpersonal effectiveness of insurance professionals, with a special focus on sector-specific challenges

Day 1 focused on technical sessions. Mr. Basant Limbu facilitated the life insurance session, covering risk analysis, underwriting practices, claim handling, and fraud detection. For non-life insurers, Mr. Shambhu Prasad Mishra led discussions on cattle insurance, NIA directives, and field-level challenges. On Day 2, Ms. Pooja Dangol conducted a combined session on soft skills, emphasizing leadership, communication, negotiation, and personal development.

The training was inaugurated in the presence of Mr. Shambhu Prasad Mishra (Province Chief, NIA), Dr. Laxmi Kanta Paudel (CEO, IIN), Mr. Surya Bahadur KC (NIPS), and Mr. Buddhi Raj Adhikari (NISA). The closing ceremony featured remakrs from Dr. Rabindra Ghimire (Founder, NIRMA) and concluded with certificate distribution and a group photo.

Participants appreciated the relevance and practicality of the sessions, praising the resource persons and logistics. Key takeaways included enhanced technical competence, stronger soft skills, and improved readiness for workplace application. IIN continues to promote capacity-building initiatives for the sustainable development of Nepal’s insurance industry.
